CMA CGM, CSCL and UASC, partners in the 'Ocean Three' arrangements,have announced the implementation of a capacity rationalization program during the summer on the Far East-Europe to address the overcapacity plaguing this route. The new program, effective from end June to mid-September, involves a total of 12 consecutive weekly void sailings comprising of seven void sailings on the ‘FAL 3/AEX 4/AEC 7’ operated by CMA CGM that will alternate with five void sailings on the ‘FAL 2/AEX 7/AEC 8’ operated by CSCL and UASC.
In order to synchronise the port coverage during the period, the ‘O3’carriers will adjust the service rotations of the two affected loops,and also shift the calls at Xingang, Dalian and Dunkirk from the ‘FAL3/AEX 4/AEC 7’ to the ‘FAL 1/ AEX 3/AEC 2’.

FAL, AEX and AEC are the respective service names used by CMA CGM, CSCL and UASC. Third parties taking slots on either loop through separate arrangements will be affected by the move. They include Hanjin, COSCO, Yang Ming, K Line, PIL, Hamburg Süd and Evergreen.
